In response to Just's observation of the necessary personality traits to be successful entrepreneurs, I would like to share my experience at work as I was nurtured by my parents to have entreprenur's personalities in my up-bringing.
1. Ask yourself: why do you wish to be working in a start-up?
I enjoy my experience in a start-up greatly because I had some hardships in my life which aspired me since very young age. I came from a very well- disciplined and strict family - which drove my ambition to achieve sthg extra-ordinary in my life. Since 13 I had my 1st dream, and I achieved at 21. This successful experience gave me re-assurance that if I can stand hardships with strong determination in the short-run, I can achieve an extra-ordinarily meaningful life in the long run and contribute back to the society. Thus I would rather choose the tough route for bigger success.
2. Employee mindset will for sure make u fail in start-ups. We need highly dedicated, extremely creative and innovative mindset. Given very lean resources, we should be psychologically prepared to realize our great dreams with limited resources to maximize potentials of every opportunity. I can assure you, if you put in your heart & soul to walk the entrepreneurial path, your personal growth, experience and achievement is invaluable, which a paid job can never offer.
3. Anyone who comes to work for a salary only without passion or psycological preparation, you are not ready for start-up yet. It will do both sides good for you to resign yourself and work in big companies instead, which gives you better salary package.
If you are ready to stand hardships, take actions quickly enough to grasp opportunities the ever-changing market offers, and most importantly, willing to support colleagues (comrades 戰友) with ideas and whatever help whole-heartedly, then you are not wasting your time and colleagues' time here as start-ups burn up money quickly. Start-up indeed is an invaluable experience in life but it takes a valuable group of right-minded people which make it successful to create the big influence in your professional life.
